THE LILAC ZONE

I don't take myself too seriously when it comes to propagation of lilacs. I have tried grafting and rooting lilacs from softwood cuttings and have found that I don't necessarily have a natural inclination for it. Honestly, I should probably try again, but I put too much pressure on myself to succeed and I would rather just have fun when it comes to propagation efforts! Some of the propagation that I have done has been on my own and some of it I have been fortunate enough to be able to leverage the skills of my friends to do. Either way, it is a fun activity and very gratifying when I see that it has been successful!

This is 'Duplex', the only known double-flowering Syringa chinensis. It is one of the first lilacs that I have been successful creating additional plants by layering the lower branches!
